Symptoms can be short spells lasting seconds or a constant feeling of dizziness
The difficulty in diagnosing the dizzy patient is that the word “dizzy” can be used to describe a variety of symptoms of various conditions. It may be that someone feels the room is spinning around them, or maybe a feeling that they themselves are spinning. Dizzy can also be used to describe a feeling of being light headed, to feeling off balance, as part of a headache or migraine, or as a symptom of conditions such as Ménière’s disease or vertigo. It may be triggered by getting up from lying or sitting, turning over in bed, or just being in a busy place such as a shopping centre.
Our Specialist physios will work with a patient to understand what they mean when ‘they feel dizzy’, enabling a correct diagnosis and treatment plan to help them recover from what can be a debilitating symptom. We currently have 3 therapists who are trained in the management of a “dizzy” patient: Jeremy is a Consultant physio working out of our Fitzrovia clinic, Leonie is based at Fleet St in the City of London, and for those living in the South West Kiah treats at our Kensington clinic.
